I am Grateful For…

First and foremost, my health. I’m acutely aware that some people aren’t afforded that luxury, especially this time of the year, on the anniversary of when we said goodbye to my aunt, who lost her battle to that nasty creep- cancer. Yes…I am grateful that I am healthy.
And I am grateful that my family is healthy too.
I could stop right there and it would be enough. Enough to bring me to tears.
But I have more. I have a family that I love and adore. And that love me back, even though they tease me about being crazy and goofy and weird, and laugh at me for crying over the silliest things. When you have a family that loves you- you have everything.
I am a very lucky person and I know it all the way to the bottom of my heart.
I am also grateful for:
My home. Especially in this day and age of loss and foreclosure. I don’t take anything for granted. I offer up my thanks.
And I have dogs that think I’m wonderful. (Don’t tell them any different okay? I’d hate for them to be disappointed.)
I am especially grateful that I get to write for a living. And make a difference in people’s lives by coaching and teaching and blogging.
I make new friends every day. And deepen friendships with long term ones that I’ve known forever.
I’m grateful for opportunities to express myself through the many forms of art. Through theater, and photography and cooking and painting, and words, words, words.
I am grateful for you.
Yes, you… each and every one of you and how we touch each others lives in big and small ways all across the world.
It’s an amazing thing, isn’t it? This power we have to touch each other through words.
What are you grateful for during this week of gratitude?

Wendi, I am grateful for so many things.. Even though I could easily list all the “things” I am worried about, stress over, fear, freak out over, etc. What comes to my mind first thing is that I am grateful for my family. There are so many people who literally have no one left in family to love and be loved.. My health, ok, so I gained a few pounds, am fighting a nasty cold and woke up yesterday with a stye in my eye that feels like a football, I am still grateful. I can see, I can walk, I can still hear .. well, perhaps not as well as the days of my youth but better then nada. There is a roof over our heads.. it might not be ours , but it’s warm in here. We have lights, food, and scattered toys, dress up clothes, and creative art designs hanging on the bare walls from Grace. There is laughter coming from downstairs from Grace and her best friend Josette. She spent the night. They gave us a fashion show .. Her room is trashed again but … they had fun! I am grateful for the aroma of my husband Bruce’s breakfast extravaganza… Can’t wait to eat! I am grateful I am not being corrected for my spelling.. Today, we have no plans, to do’s , or must have’s .. I am grateful for movies, my son Nick being home with us over the holiday, and for my beautiful Grandaughter.. I am grateful for my relationship with Kayla, my super snuggly warm bed that I can read my Nicholas Sparks latest novel in today. I am grateful that it’s time to go downstairs and eat breakfast.. Thank you Wendi for reminding me to think of what I am grateful for today. Really good stuff! I am grateful that you asked the question and I had a few things to comment on!
