I’m not a writer. I’m a storyteller. When I write, I don’t think about the mechanics of it all. To this day I can’t diagram a sentence or explain passive voice even if you wanted me to. For me, it’s getting the story out of my brain and onto the page. Thinking gets shoved into a corner in favor of the characters and the tale.
Storytelling is a time honored tradition and I’m glad to follow in the footsteps of my ancestors.ย I’m not the only one. Many of my friends and family are storytellers too. And, like snowflakes, no two storytellers tell the story the same way.
Not only do storytellers vary in technique, they vary with the medium they use.
If you’re thinking a story is told only with words, think again. Chefs tell a story with food, illustrators use images, photographers use the lens, dancers dance, sculptors sculpt and gardeners garden.
Stories are told everyday in a variety of ways. When you dress for a night on a town you’re telling a completely different story than what you would tell if you went on an interview. The way you decorate your house tells the story of how you live.
Even your dreams tell the story of your subconscious. Just ask Wendi.
Today, tell us how you tell your story.ย What medium would you use? Tell the story one way and then use a different medium and see what happens. Is the story the same? How does it change, if at all?
In fact, there hasn’t been a good meme in the blogosphere for a while. Tell your story and then tag three other people to tell theirs and link back to the one who tagged you. Doesn’t matter what the story is or how it’s done. Just tell it.
PS: 100 Internet Points to the first one to guess whose story is in this post’s picture!

Deb posts a picture-story about one of her business partners.
And her other business partner guesses who it is.
Wow.
Who’da thunk it? ๐

Friar,
Terribly rude isn’t it? All my fault…I really had no idea. Sorry, It was just a guess, We may be partners, but contrary to public thought, not connected at the hip at all times. I honestly had no idea.Shall we play again?
You give us one and we will all guess. You can put it here or on your own site, and we shall send everyone over to guess.
That goes for everyone. Can you make a puzzle of someone and have us guess who it might be? Tell us a story!

Deb, excellent points about writing versus storytelling! I scrolled down fast so I would not see other answers but my guess about the photo is Sushi!
