Goblins and Vampires paraded past the sidewalk this weekend, begging for candy and celebrating the final weekend of October. This week the full moon ushers in the new month of November and I find myself once again marveling at how quickly this year has flown by.
Life’s Little Inspirations had often taken a back seat to life’s BIGGER inspirations as month after month one adventure after another has taken top billing in our busy lives.
September ushered in a new family member as our son Jesse married a wonderful girl and brought us the best daughter-in-law we could ever hope for.
October had us bustling and packing and traveling for an amazing family trip to one of our favorite spots in San Franscico where cable cars, chocolate, walks along the pier and wonderful adventures filled with perfect weather graced our days.
We came home to cold wet days and brown leaves strewn about the ground. Welcome to fall in chicagoland.
Ah well.
It’s hard to get upset when my favorite holiday of the year is looming ahead a few short weeks from now.
Thanksgiving is just around the corner with its savory scents and pumkin pie. But the delicious aroma of Mom’s favorite recipes are not what make this the one day I look forward to above the rest.
This is the ime of the year I love to sit back and reflect on everything I’ve done all year and all I’ve had to be greatful for this year.
And while yes, this year has had more then its share of heartache, its also true that in times of greatest tragedy, families pull together and get closer then ever. Its been a year of strong bonds and ties.
Weddings, celebrations, Laughter, parties…good memories. A vacation that will last in our stories forever.
I can honestly say…despite it all its been a good year. And it’s not over. The other thing I love about the beginning of November is there is still time. Still time to get those last few New Year’s resolutions from last January in under the wire. Slide them in so we can start the new year with something new and fresh instead of the same old, same old. Let’s face it…a lot can be done in Sixty focused days.
There’s still time. Time to reflect on gratitude…time to finish out the year with a bang…time to celebrate the holidays with order and good cheer instead of last minute insanity.
The beginning of November. A moment of hope.
What are you going to do with it?
