Better hold on. There’s a catch.
You haven’t heard the price. It’s expensive. Not everyone is going to want to pay. It isn’t that you can’t afford it. It’s that you simply won’t want to. The price will be too high.
It isn’t the money. Oh, some will say it is. Some folks like to hide behind the fear and the barrier of the Great Wall of Green. But that isn’t what is keeping you from your passion. You could afford the money.
It isn’t the time. You have the time. Oh, some will say it’s the time, some folks never have the time to make their dreams come true, claiming that a lack of free time is always standing in our way. But the truth of time is that we always find time to do the things we want to do. Even if that means sitting on the sofa with a bag of chips at the end of the day.
It isn’t the hard work either. Oh, I know we all like to tell ourselves we are just lazy and if we weren’t SO lazy, we could get around to making all our dreams come true. But naw, that isn’t really it. Ever get in the way of a lazy man, his pizza and his first six-pack of beer for the night? He’ll knock you out of the way just as soon as look at you. He’s not lazy, he’s got plenty of energy for what he wants to get done. It just isn’t going to amount to much when the beer is gone.
So if it isn’t money, time or energy, what is it going to cost? What could be so high a price to pay for such a great benefit? Wouldn’t you pay almost anything to have the life of your dreams? To live a passionate, exciting, inspired life that you always wanted?
You tell me…
What if I told you that you had to be willing to get emotionally naked? Gut-wrenchingly honest with yourself and others. Face up to your deepest fears and move forward despite them? Still on-board? How about if I told you that the price for passion was to allow yourself to become vulnerable, open, angry, hurt, betrayed, shocked, furious and terrified down to your toes?
There are a few things you have to be willing to give up too. Things you have to turn in at the door and be willing to not take back. Non- Negotiable for experiencing the total happiness and passionate package.
You have to turn in your APATHY. Your WALL of PROTECTION around your heart. Your TURTLE SHELL that you hide in. Your FALSE RULES OF CONTROL that you built to protect you from the real world. Your SELF-LOATHING and CRITICAL JUDGEMENT of others that keeps you from having to admit to feeling shame and unworthiness.
You have to let go of all of it and be willing to stand there shivering in your unprotected authentic self and trust yourself enough to experience the FULL SPECTRUM of EMOTION from devastating to sad to bad to okay to pretty good to happy to joyful to great to inspiring to-so passionate that you think you will EXPLODE from the incredibleness.
It’s a high price to pay. But you can’t have passion any other way. You can’t have passion without being willing to LIVE the FULL SPECTRUM of LIFE.
The Living Dead
The opposite of Passion isn’t hatred or fury or anger. It’s Apathy. It’s numbness. It’s feeling dead inside. How many people do you know surviving life just going through the motions, getting through one day just to wake up to a carbon copy the next? Are you one of them?
In order to have passion you must commit to living Wide Awake.
