Ah, the weekend already? This week blew by fast, I could barely keep up. It was a busy week in blogsville. In summary, here is where we are:
Getting To Know You:
Welcome to all of the new visitors to the site this week, and to the rest of you as well. I am so happy to have everyone here. The increased participation in the comments section is a lot of fun for me and I cherish every single one! Thank you so much! I hope everyone feels comfortable chatting amongst yourselves as well. Building a community here is a very important part of what I want to do.
Last weekend’s Q & A had a fair amount of turn out for the answers to my questions. But there is plenty of room for more. If you want to participate, check out the post at Getting to Know You and add in your comments. Don’t forget, it’s also your chance to add any suggestions for post ideas or questions that you may have for me. Jump right in! Lurkers, please say take a second to say hi, you will make my day!
We have just finished our one month anniversary in the Blogging world. (April 8) For better or worse, cause I really don’t know what all these numbers mean, we have had 1567 hits in the month that we have been here and over 50 of you have become subscribers in the two weeks since I got that little button to work. As I said, without any Benchmark data, I have nothing to compare those numbers to, but I want you to know that I am grateful for every single one. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all of your support.
Blogsville Round-up
There have been a few extra-fun things that have been happening around Blogsville this week.
Melissa Donovan is doing a poetry workshop for the month of April that is fun to participate in. You can check that out at Writing Forward. If you like it, tell her I said hi.
If you are a newbie Blogger and are looking for some tips on how to succeed without getting burnt to a crisp, go pull up a chair over at Monika’s shop, The Writer’s Manifesto. Class will be starting soon, so you haven’t missed anything yet.
Daz Cox has painted some really amazing art over at his house. Why not go on over for a vist. If you haven’t been there yet, you won’t be disappointed.
Congratulations to a brand new blogger for making it through her first full week in the Blogging world. If you have a minute, go on over and say hi to Jenny at Random Ramblings.
There have been a lot of other fun commentaries and great posts going on this week. Check out the blog roll that I finally got up (go me!) for some of my favorite spots! If you like thought-provoking posts that lead to really long discussions that never end, Men with Pens and Six Weeks are the places you will want to be. I’m not kidding, some of those discussions seem like they go on for six weeks! ( Now we know the REAL reason for Brett’s new name change.)
Finally, if its a combination of beauty, thoughtful contemplation and inspiration that you are looking for, go where Life’s Little Inspirations goes to get inspired over at Lives Less Ordinary.
Oh by the way, If you know of anyone that would enjoy any of these folks up above or what we are doing here at Life’s Little Inspirations, please pass these links around. Referrals are the highest compliment you can give. Thanks. Have a great weekend.
Wendi
Poetry Time
As I mentioned before, on the weekends, I would like to share some of my favorite inspiring poetry with you. This next week will be my birthday so it is fitting that I share a poem that I was given as a gift on a birthday card for my 30th birthday. ( For the answer to how long ago that was, you will have to have been paying attention earlier in a different post.) When I read the poem, I cut it out and put it in a frame. I have kept it on my desk framed ever since. Rarely does a birthday card make that big of a splash, but this one has meant a lot to me. Oh, and if you go to Melissa’s poetry class, I shared this in the comments section yesterday too.

LOL Wendy, great witty post and I loved how you described the Pen men and Brett’s blog. Excellent stuff.
BTW, class has begun. I had some issues with my new server but the first post is up and on Monday will be the second one. Thanks for the link too. Appreciate it and congrats on your anniversary. Wooohooo….:-)
Wendi,
Congratulations and thank you for the link. You really are one to watch, and I’m looking forward to more in the future.
Keep on doing what you’re doing, you’re on a roll.
-Brett
Wendi, welcome to the world of blogging. The numbers say you are off to a great start. I have been blogging since June. My numbers are not nearly so impressive. My blog articles aren’t always easy to read. I write about my spiritual journey from a chldhood of growing up with incest and alcoholism in my family to the wonderful place that I am in today in recovery and beyond. I don’t write from the role of victim. I share my journey from the point of a survivor and beyond. I share my experiences to show others that they can do it to. My journey is about doing more than surviving. To use a blogging friend’s description, I am a thriver. I share a message of hope and courage for other survivor’s. That part of my blog is my “flagship content” to borrow a phrase that a fellow blogger taught me. I also write about other lessons that life has taught me in Al-Anon and Adult Children of Alcoholics. Not all of my life or my blog is about incest or alcoholism. I write about other things that have inspired my spiritual growth as well. Some of my topics for articles include gratitude, boundaries, the Law of Attraction, my trips to India, Eckhart Tolle and his book A New Earth, and many others.
My niche is somewhat smaller than yours in blogging and I am pleased with the reception that I have received in the blogging world and I thoroughly enjoy the new friends that I have made. The blogging world is full of wonderful people. I have only recently found the blogging world of Harry and James of Men With Pens and I just started reading Brett’s blog as well. Have a glorious day.
Patricia
Monika,
I’m glad to here that class is started! I am really excited, it’s going to be fun.
Thanks for the congrats. A lot of our success here is owed to finding great friends like all of you!
Brett,
Back at ya!
step by step over that bridge we go….
Patricia,
welcome! Glad to have you here.
I’ve been over to your site before. I’ve had some experience with some of the things you discuss over there. Sometimes the world just isn’t a pretty place. I like that you are handling it from a mor uplifting and inspiring perspective.
I hope you stay and feel welcome to comment, I am sure folks here would get a lot from your perspective.
Wendi,
thanks so much for linking to me! Hopefully people will take to doing what I do when I visit you, and find themselves at my blog! Now that the show is over, I may have enough time to do this!! Thanks for coming today!
🙂 congrats on the success!
Thanks for the wonderful sentiment on my work, I hope to live up to the hype!
I like that poem I’ll have to google ol’ HVD for more!
I don’t want to be picky, but….. Could you set up an email subscription feed. I like to get daily reminders in my email for great sites like yours. I have you in my Google reader but things get missed in there some times. Keep up the great content.
Mark,
I would love to do that!
I am not sure how to though. I will try and work on it. Thanks for the suggestion and thanks for wanting to not miss it!
Wendi, your blog continues to inspire me and it always gives me something to smile about. Thanks so much for linking to Writing Forward 🙂
P.S. You can set up email subscription through feedburner – it’s pretty easy and straightforward. They also let you redirect all your RSS feeds to one so you can truly capture how many subscribers you have and you can also use it to let people subscribe to comments.
Is it bad that I’ve gotten so self-absorbed that I am deeply sad I’m not in the weekend wrap-up? Is that bad? Am I a slave to my shadenfreude? Do need a therapist and a small child to whisper sweet nothings to me?
Seriously, though, awesome stuff here. I see why you love them.
::sniff: I just don’t see why you love them MORE than ME!!!
Melissa, Thanks for the tips!
I tried to get the e-mail thing to work..couldn’t figure it out. I won’t give up though.
Tei! You came to visit! I’m so glad to see you, Welcome!
Now Tei, I don’t know if I can send them over and get them frightened by a weevil.
hehehehehehehe……
No worries, I like you just fine…There will be lots of weekend wrap ups to come.
We newbies need to stick together.
@ Wendy: great to see you have already made some nice friends here. 🙂 I have yet to visit Tei, but I admit she (or he, not sure) has made me want to learn more too since she/he is always at the Pen Men. LOL, if I only had another two hours a day to make those rounds I would be much better to comment.
@ Wendi: hand in hand, my friend – the journey looks exciting indeed 🙂
@ Patricia: I agree with Wendi, your writing is very special and you inspired me to pick up A New Earth and start reading it. Very interesting book… and I’ll be back to your site again soon.
