First and foremost, my health. I’m acutely aware that some people aren’t afforded that luxury, especially this time of the year, on the anniversary of when we said goodbye to my aunt, who lost her battle to that nasty creep- cancer. Yes…I am grateful that I am healthy.
And I am grateful that my family is healthy too.
I could stop right there and it would be enough. Enough to bring me to tears.
But I have more. I have a family that I love and adore. And that love me back, even though they tease me about being crazy and goofy and weird, and laugh at me for crying over the silliest things. When you have a family that loves you- you have everything.
I am a very lucky person and I know it all the way to the bottom of my heart.
I am also grateful for:
My home. Especially in this day and age of loss and foreclosure. I don’t take anything for granted. I offer up my thanks.
And I have dogs that think I’m wonderful. (Don’t tell them any different okay? I’d hate for them to be disappointed.)
I am especially grateful that I get to write for a living. And make a difference in people’s lives by coaching and teaching and blogging.
I make new friends every day. And deepen friendships with long term ones that I’ve known forever.
I’m grateful for opportunities to express myself through the many forms of art. Through theater, and photography and cooking and painting, and words, words, words.
I am grateful for you.
Yes, you… each and every one of you and how we touch each others lives in big and small ways all across the world.
It’s an amazing thing, isn’t it? This power we have to touch each other through words.
What are you grateful for during this week of gratitude?
